About me
I am Blaine Hedberg and I live in Westby, Wisconsin. In addition to client research, I volunteer at the Westby Area Historical Society Museum and Archives as an archivist.
I worked professionally for more than thirty years as a genealogical researcher in Madison, Wisconsin, and my specialty was identifying Norwegian immigration patterns of those emigrating from Norway from 1825-1860. I was the editor of the series Norwegian Immigrants to the United States, 1825-1850, and am now working on identifying those emigrants from Norway arriving in the years 1851-1860. I am also working on a biographical directory of the earliest Norwegian settlers in Union County, Dakota Territory (South Dakota). I am serving as Treasurer of the Coon Prairie Cemetery Association, a local Norwegian-American cemetery with many burials of early Norwegian emigrants. I also volunteer at Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center in Coon Valley, Wisconsin, helping to catalog their extensive Norwegian genealogy library collection. I also serve as Secretary for the Sons of Norway Foundation Board of Governors, and I serve as Treasurer of the Norwegian-American Historical Association in Northfield, Minnesota.
